If one makes an effort to explore and discover by oneself, the object of interest would not be so easily taken for granted as compared to being told. And this also reflects one's character. （大多数）得花心思＝得来不易=更珍惜

so that's why in order to prevent the feeling of regret or loss, shouldn't one try to appreciate what they have in the first place? and isn't this one way of doing so?
