It seems that His works are attractive to the world because of its goodness but one's desires are attractive because of its easiness to engage in, as compared to adhering to His teachings, and seeming to satisfy an innate desire/need. And that's when His works become repulsive because of the obvious difference, and reminder of how "fallen"(biblical meaning of the word "fallen") we are.
To some, it just purely the berates from within us that cause us to have such a huge reaction, as compared to others, such as being very apologetic for subconsciously judging others in mind.
And trials are common things in daily walking with Him. But I'd rather face the trials than to go against Him or stray away from Him, and it's not because of His authority nor His power but purely because of He created me and but yet He's so close to me, like a friend, and His cross.
